‘We will not let up in our quest for justice for Alex and Renee’

October 22, 2026 (SAINT PAUL) — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison released the following statement in reaction to media reports that the federal government is again refusing to share evidence with state agencies in the January 2026 deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti during Operation Metro Surge:

We should never have had to sue the Trump Administration in the first place to get access to evidence in Renee Good’s and Alex Pretti’s deaths. Minnesota and federal law enforcement agencies have always had excellent working relationships in which evidence-sharing has been routine — until President Trump unleashed his campaign of “reckoning and retribution” against Minnesota during Operation Metro Surge. We continue to press our case in federal court for access to this evidence. We will not let up in our quest for justice for Alex and Renee.
