The Office is currently seeking an Accounting Transaction Supervisor to lead key financial operations within the Finance Division of the Office. We’re looking for a detail-driven, collaborative professional to lead a team responsible for all accounts payable and receivable functions, along with other key finance and accounting activities. This position plays an important leadership role in maintaining strong internal controls, improving financial processes, and supporting strategic decision-making within the Office.
A successful candidate in this position will be able to:
- Lead and supervise a team of three accounting staff, including training, coaching, and performance management
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Review contracts (service, professional/technical, and purchasing) for compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and law
- Monitor and approve accounting transactions, including expense reimbursements, invoices, billing, purchasing, and credit card activity
- Maintain strong internal controls and support continuous process improvement
- Prepare and review financial and accounting reports
- Provide responsive, high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders
This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of in-office work and telework); after initial training is completed.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA or BS degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field AND two (2) year or more of accounting experience OR 6 or more years of accounting experience.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory or lead experience (including coaching, training, and performance management)
- Experience with accounting operations such as purchasing, contracts, credit card administration, internal control management, and expense reimbursements
- Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., SWIFT, SEMA4, AMA, or similar)
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills (data analysis, formulas, reporting, automation, and working with large datasets)
- Proven abilities to:
- Lead in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment
- Exhibit excellent judgement, integrity, and professionalism
- Outstanding skill in:
- Organization, planning, multitasking, and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and timeliness of work
- Providing exceptional customer service
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government accounting, preferably within Minnesota state systems
- Experience overseeing fiscal year-end close processes and financial reporting
