Protecting Minnesota Community Forums

You’re invited to join Attorney General Keith Ellison for a series of community forums to discuss his work to protect the rights and freedoms of the people of Minnesota. At these events, the Office will listen and share more about the work we’re doing to stand up for Minnesotans in the face of extreme executive overreach, threats to our immigrant neighbors, attacks on the rights of LGBTQIA+ Minnesotans, increased economic pressure on our farmers and rural communities, and other community concerns. Protecting Your Data Online

The Minnesota Legislature recently passed the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act (“MCDPA”) to help safeguard consumers’ data and their right to privacy. The law provides Minnesota residents with the power to control how their data is used by companies and other parties. Protecting Rural Minnesota - August 2026

So much of Minnesota’s strength is rooted in its rural communities. From family farms and Main Street businesses to local schools and volunteer fire halls, rural Minnesota embodies resilience, hard work, and neighbors helping neighbors. These communities feed our state, fuel our economy, and maintain a deep commitment to place that helps make Minnesota what it is. No matter where in Minnesota we call home, we all benefit from the vitality of rural communities. This report focuses on the issues that impact rural areas in our state, and the work the office does to help you keep food on your table, keep your money in your pocketbook, and keep you healthy.
 

Report on Emerging Technology and Its Effects on Youth Well-Being - Vol. 2, February 2025

The second volume of the Emerging Technology Report details the harmful effects that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and social media are having on young Minnesotans. The report examines the harms these technologies cause, analyzes the specific design features causing those harms, evaluates previous legislative efforts to correct these issues, and provides policy recommendations for the Minnesota legislature that will curb these harms and improve the well-being of young Minnesotans.
